In Dubai, work continues on the implementation of Moon Dubai - a large-scale resort in the shape of the moon, which promises to become a new global attraction. Its cost is estimated at $5-7 billion. The construction of the facility is planned to be completed by 2027.
This mega-project, developed by the Canadian architectural firm Moon World Resorts Inc, aims to attract more visitors to the emirate and boost the city’s economy. In addition, it is intended to meet the growing interest in space tourism, note the authors.
Moon Dubai is a 274-meter copy of the Moon, standing on top of a 30-meter pedestal building, and, according to the authors, will light up at night. In the spherical construction is a luxury hotel for 4 thousand rooms and 300 private residences of Sky Villas. The hotel is located in the center of the city. Here will be located the «moon colony», which will allow guests to feel like explorers of the only moon on Earth. In the territory of more than 40 thousand sq. m. It will be possible to take a walk simulating movement on the lunar surface and participate in astronaut training.
The Moon Resort is conceived as a fully integrated destination, a micro-city that combines luxury hospitality, exclusive real estate, and a comprehensive suite of entertainment and business facilities. This diversified commercial ecosystem is designed to capture maximum revenue from a wide range of visitors and residents, a necessary strategy to justify the project’s substantial investment. The architecture serves a robust business model that integrates multiple high-value components.
The resort also offers many world-class facilities, including a multi-functional arena with 10,000 seats, a beach club, a water entertainment center, a water park, a spa, restaurants and private clubs. In addition, the project provides for the construction of a conference center called Sea Tranquility («Maritime peace»). These facilities underscore Dubai’s strategy to become a premier destination for both leisure and MICE travel.
The resort is expected to attract between 2.5 million and 10 million visitors per year. Such a surge of tourism will bring significant income to the emirate and create many new jobs.
