Ethiopian Airlines introduces Africa’s first A350-1000!

Next Previous •

Ethiopia became the first carrier in Africa to operate the Airbus 350 when the airline took delivery of its first A350-900 seven years ago. The new A350-1000 was named “Ethiopia Land of Origins”.

The airline has since grown its fleet thanks to the “performance, operational and cost-effectiveness” of its original aircraft.

The A350-1000 is one of the world’s most efficient and technologically advanced passenger aircraft. It is one of the largest versions of the Airbus A350 family, with a standard seating capacity of 395, while premium seating area is increased by 40%, according to Airbus.

Ethiopian Airlines currently operates a fleet of 20 A350-900 aircraft and plans to acquire 11 A350-900 aircraft.

The agreement with Airbus brings the A350 order book to 33 aircraft, including four A350-1000s.

For ultra-long-haul flights, the Airbus 350-1000 delivers unrivalled efficiency, fuel efficiency and 99.5% reliability. The Airbus A350 features cutting-edge aerodynamics, a carbon fibre fuselage and wings, and the most fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce XWB engines.

Together, these cutting-edge technologies deliver unrivalled levels of operational efficiency and sustainability for Ethiopian Airlines, delivering a 25% reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions compared to previous generation twin-aisle aircraft.
