Imagine this: you're tasked with planning the ultimate incentive travel experience. Where would you go? What factors would shape your decision? As event professionals, staying ahead of the curve is crucial, and the latest Incentive Travel Index (ITI) survey offers a glimpse into the future's uncharted territory.
One of the biggest challenges? The relentless rise in costs. Very few budgets are keeping up with inflation. As expenses soar, agencies and clients grapple with maintaining program quality without compromising the experience. The solution? Collaboration between suppliers, agencies and end-users to design creative programs that deliver the same punch with tighter budgets.
When it comes to destination selection, the survey revealed that for North American buyers, the Caribbean reigns supreme, followed by Western Europe and Mexico. For European buyers, destinations including Slovenia, Croatia and Turkey are making significant strides.

Sustainability and inclusivity are gaining importance in the corporate world, but the survey revealed a surprising disconnect. Stan acknowledged that "when it comes to their incentive trip, it's not as important." However, addressing this perception is a collective responsibility, as Stan Hershenow, Brightspot Incentives & Events, emphasized: "Our job as leaders in this industry is to show them that you can build sustainability and inclusivity into your program without taking anything away from it."
Two notable trends emerged: the resurgence of the cruise industry and the growing importance of destination marketing organizations (DMOs) in incentive travel planning. Jennifer emphasized the need for DMOs to understand local product offerings, suppliers and DMCs, fostering collaboration to present their destinations as key incentive travel hubs.
The future of incentive travel is shaped by budgetary constraints, destination dynamics, conscious considerations, and the ever-evolving roles of industry players. By embracing collaboration, innovation, and a deep understanding of the trends, event professionals can navigate this landscape with confidence, crafting unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impact.
