One event encompasses it all...
We are sharing with you our impressions from attending the show of our partner Sergey Pchela, an MC, script writer, and director, author of books about events, who lives and works in Dubai:
“This year, I visited the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 in Dubai, and this was an unbelievable event! It was held from April 28 through May 1 in the Dubai World Trade Centre, and I will say honestly that the scale was impressive. Enormous pavilions, thousands of people, spectacular booths, and a sea of ideas, the atmosphere was charged.
The first thing that struck you was the huge pavilion of the Persian Gulf countries. Each UAE emirate presented their unique booth, and I was amazed how they displayed their services: from luxurious Dubai hotels to adventurous tourism in Ras Al Khaima. I remember in particular the Abu-Dhabi booth, emphasizing cultural festivals and museums, it was beautiful and informative.
On the whole, the Near East had a very strong representation. Saudi Arabia and Egypt brought enormous booths where you could find out about new resorts, cruises along the Nile, and even archaeological tours. But Turkey held its own, their booth was packed with color, with presentations from Istanbul and Antalya, and they even treated us to delicious coffee!
Africa and Latin America also shone. I peeked into the booths talking about Kenya safaris and Brazilian carnivals. It is true that Europe had a smaller presence, but Italy drew attention with its plasma stations. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan had astonishingly, fairly large booths providing active promotion of mountain routes and cultural festivals. Uzbekistan showed Samarkand and Bukhara, and I already began to think about a new trip there.
One of the most interesting pavilions was dedicated to technologies. There were companies involved in hacking tickets, renting cars and travel industry apps. The Chinese companies stood out especially. They were very active in promoting their platforms, and their booths were always crowded. I also noted that many startups displayed solutions with AI, from chat bots for tourists to hotel management systems.
The airlines also did not disappoint. Emirates introduced a new business class, something like a personal compartment for one person! It looks super comfortable, with large screens and a lot of space. I made a note to myself that I need to try flying in this class. Etihad and Turkish Airlines also displayed their innovations, and it was obvious that competition in the sky is really something.
There is also a place at ATM for oddities. One guy walked around in field gear with a tour operator’s logo and got everyone’s attention. Such gorilla marketing really works: I went up to see myself what he was advertising! There were other creative approaches: VR-tours, interactive maps, and even mini-concerts at some booths.
ATM 2025 was a real tourism holiday. I left with a lot of business cards, new ideas for trips, and inspiration. This is a place where you feel that the tourist industry unifies the world, and I am already waiting for next year to come back!”
