Kogalym: a trip to the reindeer herders in the Far North
Being in Russia, it is very interesting to include in the program the amazing places this country is rich with. Just a three-hour flight from Moscow to Kogalym, and you get to the territory of the Far North, where you can visit the real camp of a family of reindeer herders of the Khanty nationality.
Thanks to this trip, the participants of the Community MICE&more immersed themselves in the life of reindeer herders, listened to their stories, fed the deer, took out a 25 kilogram fish catch from the dam, had lunch in the plague, rested on skins, knocked on a tambourine, underwent a fire purification ceremony, tied ribbons on the wishing tree, tried on national outfits and jewelry… In general, we had the most interesting and informative time. It was as if we had been transported back in time and felt the legends of the Hunts being born there literally out of thin air. We embraced that almost mystical place, the people, their kindness and hospitality.
We are especially proud to note that Kogalym, as a MICE destination for our industry, was discovered by us. We devoted several articles to the possibilities of Kogalym, and in May 2024, we organized a large-scale Kogalym Day in Moscow in order to promote business tourism in the regions of Russia.
